Isodrink from Svensson contains vitamin C which contributes to a normal energy-yielding metabolism. Isodrink contains 30 g of carbohydrates per portion.

The carbohydrates have two objectives: on the one hand to accelerate the water absorption and on the other hand these carbohydrates are an extra source of energy. The carbohydrate concentration of Isodrink (60 g / liter) stimulates the absorption of water from the small intestine into the bloodstream. This way you can prevent dehydration.

The danger of dehydration.

A deficiency of body water (from 2% body weight loss) is generally defined as dehydration and can impair aerobic performance in warm conditions. As blood volumes decrease and body temperature rises, the heart, lungs and circulatory system are put under additional strain. The heart has to work harder to pump blood through your body. This makes your workouts feel much harder, you get tired faster and eventually your performance decreases. Dehydration can also lead to mental fatigue and a drop in concentration.

Ironically, the more you become dehydrated, the less your body will sweat. Dehydration results in reduced blood volume. During exercise, your body has to make a choice between blood flow to muscles or blood flow to your skin surface to dissipate heat. In most cases, the blood supply to the skin is reduced, causing your body temperature to rise.
